MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY
I came to accept Christ Jesus as Lord and my personal Savior; during an experience at the start of the 14 years of bloody civil war in my home country, Liberia. To begin with, let me say praises to God for my very life as I reflect on where He took me from. Indeed, to save me is the reason why He died and to testify about Him is the reason I live today.
It was during the night of July 27, 1990, when God
saved my life from the hands of combating rebels (warriors)
who were in fierce battle with the national army of Liberia.
I was captured while in search for refuge and safety along with ten others and we were termed to be “people from their
opponent camp” and they ordered our execution immediately. As the execution was being carried out, my name was called out as the 7th person from a list of 11 to be taken to the main site of the execution. I was hopeless at that moment and did not know what to do and was overcome with tears and great fear. It was at that time and moment; a senior officer of the rebel group came in, having heard my surname being called out put a stoppage to my execution on grounds that he knew the family I came from. Suddenly, I was taken away by him to safety. The remainder of the 11 captives were executed. I was traumatized by this horrible experience but yet realized very quickly that it was not the officer who saved me but that it was Jesus Christ, and I accepted Christ as my Lord and personal Savior. Through it all, Jesus kept me under His wings like an eagle and gave me His spirit through which I can do all things today.
